Your specialists for remote company retreats in Slovenia and Croatia.
Cycling routes, olive groves, gastronomy and rural landscapes, mountain trails, local food and coastal scenery, all within one short cross-border region.
Alpe Adria Retreats organises company retreats and offsites in Slovenia and Croatia. We are specialized for remote and hybrid teams.
For teams that need something the our signature retreats don't cover, we design fully custom retreats from scratch.
We work with teams up to 100 people. Every retreat is fully managed from venue to host. Discovery call is 30 minutes, no proposal until we both agree on fit. Upon booking a discovery call, please fill out this form to help us understand your needs.
Explore our three pre-built signature experiences:
3-5 day Slovenian retreat in Pohorje

5-10 day cross-border retreat across both countries
Alpe Adria Retreats is built by the teams already shaping remote work and digital nomadism across Slovenia and Croatia.
Work from Slovenia
DNA Istria & Istrience Collective
Most retreat agencies will book a venue in our region, following your request. We are the region.
🎯 We don't do many destinations.
We do two countries. Slovenia (Pohorje) and Croatia (Istria), in extreme depth. The places we send your team to are places we live in, work in, and have spent over time building infrastructure across. When something goes wrong, our person on the ground knows the venue owner's first name, this provides you with a really authentic experience.
🛠️ Built by the people building the ecosystem.
AAR is a collaboration between the teams behind DNA Slovenia, Work from Slovenia, DNA Istria and Istrience Collective. We run the region's remote work organisations. We host the meetups, know the founders, coworkings, and operators your team might want to meet while they're here.
🏔️🌊 Alps to Adriatic in one retreat.
Slovenia and Croatia are small, beautiful, and side by side. In a single week, your team can go from alpine forest to the Adriatic coast, crossing two countries and two distinct cultural worlds.
💬 Honest about what works.
We'll tell you when a retreat won't deliver what you want. We'll tell you when Pohorje in February is a bad idea or when your team can enjoy the best winter retreat ever. We'll tell you when your team is too big for the venue or activities you love. We've watched the wrong retreats happen. We want to help you avoid that.
Our retreats serve annual team gatherings, leadership offsites, team-building moments, and milestone events for distributed teams.
No surprises. Five easy steps:
Fiil out a form - Take 5-7 minutes to tell us about your team needs and desires here.

Proposal - Within 5 working days. Locations, sample agenda, one transparent budget.
We plan everything - You approve, we run. Regular check-ins. Zero chasing.
The retreat - Your team arrives. Our host is on the ground throughout. You enjoy.

Absolutely. Slovenia is a hidden champion for corporate retreats, especially for distributed teams seeking a refreshing, high-impact alternative to over-commercialized hubs. It combines central European proximity and is easily reachable from major European airports. Here you will also find a welcoming English-speaking community and exceptional value of nature offerings. In regions like Pohorje and Maribor, teams get exclusive access to unhurried, premium venues surrounded by ancient forests, great food and amazing hiking/biking infrastructure. It’s an environment designed to eliminate burnout and foster deep, focused collaboration.
Yes. For company retreats specifically, the Istrian peninsula (where we operate, based in Pula) offers a more authentic and relaxed side of Croatia, combining coastal scenery, Roman heritage, exceptional Istrian gastronomy, and easy access through direct international flights to Pula. Its balance of nature, culture, wellness, and premium experiences makes it especially well-suited for international teams seeking meaningful and inspiring retreat destinations.
Yes. Slovenia and Croatia share a border and Istria sits directly south of Slovenia. Our flagship Alps to Adriatic retreat is built exactly around this journey, running 5 to 10 days with all cross-border logistics handled.
We work with teams between up to a 100 people. The sweet spot is 15 to 50 across all three signature retreats.
Costs vary significantly depending on team size, retreat duration, venue tier, season, and which signature you choose. We quote every retreat individually.
The short answer: It always depends on your team’s specific goals and interests. To give your team the absolute best experience, we intentionally avoid the chaotic, high-heat months of July and August. Instead, we highly recommend the prime shoulder-season windows of March, April, May, June, September, and October. These months deliver longer, sunlit evenings, beautiful weather, fewer crowds, and far better availability for exclusive venues. Depending on what your team wants to achieve, you can choose the perfect window: Choose Late Spring (May – June): If your team’s interest lies in high-energy outdoor action. This is the absolute peak season for cycling-heavy retreats in Pohorje, active hiking, and coastal team-building before the summer rush. Choose Early Autumn (September – October): If your team is motivated by culture, gastronomy, and relaxed strategic alignment. This window is unparalleled for wine-country exploration, truffle hunting in Istria, and celebrating team milestones over world-class food harvest experiences.
The terms overlap. A retreat tends to imply longer (3-7 days), more multi-faceted, often involving more stakeholders in the planning. An offsite tends to imply shorter (2-3 days), more focused (often a single goal), and is usually owned by one person to plan. Our shorter signatures function well as offsites; our longer Alps to Adriatic flagship functions as a full retreat.
Yes. We brief venues on dietary needs ahead of time, assess accessibility per venue, and can provide you with the contact regarding visa guidance for any nationality on your team. Slovenia and Croatia are both EU and Schengen.
More and more remote or hybrid companies are searching for a complete digital detox in a location that is easily accessible but feels entirely unhurried.
That is why we built Alpe Adria Retreats. Located in the heart of Europe, the transition from Slovenia’s alpine peaks in Pohorje to Croatia’s historic coastlines in Istria offers remote teams the perfect environment to step away from their screens. Whether it’s clearing the mind on a mountain trail or sharing a slow, local meal, we design retreats that foster genuine human connection.
Together with Roberta and the Istrience Collective team, we created Alpe Adria Retreats to give remote teams a space to recharge their creative energy and remember what it feels like to collaborate side-by-side in nature."
— Dino Kovačević, Co-founder
As remote work continues to reshape the way we live and collaborate, more companies are
looking for meaningful places where their teams can reconnect beyond screens and daily
routines.
That is why we built Alpe Adria Retreats. For years, I carried the idea of creating something
that would showcase Istria not only as a beautiful destination, but as a place where people can
work, connect, and thrive. Through my experience in HR, event management, tourism, and
international business environments, I saw how powerful it can be when the right people
come together in the right setting.
Together with Dino, we created Alpe Adria Retreats to bridge people, work, and place. By
combining Slovenia’s alpine landscapes with the authentic culture and coastline of Istria, we
offer remote teams an opportunity to slow down, recharge, and build stronger relationships
through shared experiences.
Our goal is simple: to create spaces where teams can reconnect with each other, find fresh
inspiration, and experience what collaboration feels like when it happens naturally."
